A small three position switch located on the side of the Pico turns the built-in lights either to maximum brightness, mid-range brightness or off. In the off position the ambient room light can be used (if adequate) and this will conserve battery power. It is also helpful to keep the lights off when viewing a computer screen, and to have the lights off or turned down when viewing glossy materials such as magazines. This will reduce glare. Pico will now connect to a TV for a larger visual presentation.

Pico's folding legs:

- Legs folded up / Hand held - Read brief materials (i.e. price tags or receipts) or curved surfaces by holding Pico approximately 1 inch above the material. You can adjust the magnification from 3X to 11X by increasing or decreasing the distance between Pico and the material.

- Both legs down - Place Pico on material for magnification of 5X. You can also sign checks and write notes. Try turning Pico vertically for more space to write.

- Top leg down, bottom leg up - Place Pico on material, tilting the screen towards you. In this position the magnification is 11X.

- Top leg up, bottom leg down - Rotate the Pico with the buttons towards you. Place Pico on material, tilting the screen towards you. In this position the magnification is 8X.
