Description:

The Genie Pro can be used as a stand-alone color video magnification CCTV (typically, when configured with a 13"-25" television monitor), or it can be used with a personal computer monitor. When the Genie Pro is configured this way, it can easily switch to a split screen when it detects a compatible computer. The split screen mode helps to create a work station environment where an individual with low vision can simultaneously view both the material placed under the video magnifier (the Genie Pro camera) and the information from the computer. Using an optional foot pedal, the user can also toggle between the video magnifier and the computer images. By using the same computer monitor for both computer use and text reading, the user can avoid the cost and inconvenience of two separate monitors.

The Genie Pro AutoFocus gives the user two choices for focusing an image: Continuous automatic focus for greatest ease, and manual focus override for optimum adjustment.

In addition to full color, the Genie Pro displays your printed materials in high-contrast black text on white and white text on black. The white text on black (or negative image) is ideal for reading text because there is less glare. The Genie Pro has twenty-four background/foreground color combinations for viewing printed materials. This feature allows an individual to choose the best colors for his/her particular visual needs. The user can adjust the brightness or intensity of the picture for different lighting conditions. He/she can also use vertical and horizontal lines and shadow masks to help track and reduce glare.

The Genie Pro base can be used with SVGA monitors, S-video monitors, and NTSC (TV) monitors. A 17", 60 lbs/27kg monitor can be placed directly on the Genie Pro, or an optional Monitor Tray ($59 plus $20 Shipping/Handling) is available for TV monitors and monitors larger than 17". The Genie Pro features a large, 15.6" x 16.4" (39.6cm wide x 41.7cm deep), smooth non-glare platform, which permits reading heavy books. The viewing area of this platform permits reading a full sheet of paper without repositioning. In addition, a large, easy-to-operate lever allows the reader to partially or totally lock the position of the reading table. This feature makes it easier to read horizontal lines and to write. The table also features adjustable drag and margin stops.
