These CCTVs feature an unusually large depth of field that allows users to look at three-dimensional objects and curved surfaces with maximum clarity. In addition, these CCTVs have a focus range allowing users to read large objects such as very thick books. Most have automatic focusing capabilities built-in.

The desktop CCTVs have CRT or LCD screens that are adjustable, or set at ideal viewing height. They have either eye-level controls, controls set near the users hands, or controls actually controlled by voice!
